Dear GCI and Battle of the Bulbs,
Snell-Hitchcock really is trying to do well in Battle of the Bulbs - I can assure you that more lights have been off than usual, and people care about being environmentally friendly. We even have a weekly Green Initiative meeting with our resident masters to improve the environmental friendliness of our dorm in more ways than simply saving energy.
I write to you to ask that you send a detailed email showing how the baseline for Snell-Hitchcock was calculated and for what time period it was calculated. Recently, there has been a lot of construction in our dorm itself as well as in the neighboring Searle Chemistry Laboratory. We believe that our baseline has been calculated in such a way that it does not reflect our energy usage right before the Battle of the Bulbs, but at a time period before we were affected by said construction. Our listhost email addresses are hitchcock and snellhouse @ the respective domain for listhosts here. Residents deserve a detailed explanation.
We, the residents of Snell-Hitchcock, have been participating in the Battle of the Bulbs and will do so despite the fact that we believe our baseline is perhaps incorrectly calculated.
Thank you for your time.
According to information from Chris Keating, the building manager, construction work should not affect Snell-Hitchcock totals, as some meters were installed in late January that would measure only Snell-Hitchcock usage.
